PRS Programming Fundamentals

Approved for 2.0 NSCA Class C CEUs

Approved for 1.9 NASM CEUs

The most comprehensive course on how to safely plan & progress the barbell strength athlete of any level.

Dr. Rori Alter's 16-week course is the only implementation program providing you the exact application framework needed to not only expertly progress your clients through all phases of training – but lead to long-term, successful, injury-free clients in any clinical or coaching setting.

Before I tell you all about this life-changing program, let's talk about who it's really for…

✔️You're a barbell athlete, powerlifter, bodybuilder, or Crossfitter who understands the value and importance of strength as the foundation for injury risk reduction and optimal sports performance.
✔️You're ready to take your programming knowledge and skills to the next level.

Whether you're...

→An athlete who's tired of wasting precious time and money on templated programs or a coach who doesn't take your uniqueness into account

→Tired of seeing your friends, clients, and colleagues waste time and money on gimmicky fad "strength" workouts that promise "injury prevention" or "PRs on the platform," only to see missed lifts and injuries returning over and over again

→Tired of seeing rehab clinicians emphasize modalities, manual therapy, isolation exercises, and over-bill insurance companies only to see clients' precious time wasted as their injuries continue to hold them back

And you know…

→It would better serve you to write your programs (and save money too), so you can finally start reaching your goals.

→You can help people better, but you don't have the practical application skills from taking a pen and paper certification like the CSCS or NASM CPT.

→You can help your clients with barbell strength training, but grad school and the CSCS did not prepare you to apply what you know in the clinical setting.

You're in the right place. I'm going to share precisely how Programming Fundamentals Of Barbell Training gives you the tools, inspiration, and unparalleled support you need to become an expert barbell coach.

By the end of this program as an Athlete, you will have:

✓Knowledgeable about the ins and outs of programming for any goal utilizing an injury risk reduction and longevity approach.

✓The unique ability to plan, analyze, assess, and progress your barbell program for any of your goals without investing money and time in a coach or getting injured.

✓Have the confidence to plan and progress your program just like a high-quality barbell coach would

By the end of this program as a Coach, you will have:

✓The exact tools you need to uniquely design and progress strength programming for each of your individual clients based on their goals, injury history, and abilities, no matter what type of person they are.

✓Long-term, happy, injury-free clients who hit their goals and set new ones over and over again.

✓A word-of-mouth-free marketing system because your clients are walking advertisements for you.

About The Course:

I designed this course to help people, just like you, stop throwing spaghetti at the wall when choosing the right exercises, training schedule, loads, and rate of progression.

What you need is:

→ A systematic approach to putting all the pieces of the programming puzzle together

→ All of the valuable content housed in one place instead of all over the internet

→ A mentor so you stop second-guessing yourself

→ A compact educational system built around practical application, case studies, and information synthesis

→ A way to fast track your programming abilities without spending years feeling like you're just not getting it right

This course is uniquely designed to bypass the struggles I went through on my journey to becoming a high-level powerlifter, barbell strength coach, and specialized physical therapist.

Over the last ten years, I've done the work, taken all the courses, invested all the money, made all the mistakes, and created the PRS™️ Method - The efficient, minimalistic, and systematic application of exercise selection, prescription, and fatigue management to support long-term goal attainment and injury risk reduction in strength athletes and clinical rehabilitation.

I'M GOING TO TEACH YOU JUST THAT...A SYSTEMATIC WAY TO:

1️⃣ Start with a new client of any advancement

2️⃣ Plan and progress their training based on their goals and the 4 Core Goals of the PRS System

3️⃣ Develop an Athlete Monitoring System that is easy for your clients to use and you can analyze for assistance with…

💥INJURY RISK REDUCTION💥

💥GOAL ATTAINMENT💥

💥ATHLETE LONGEVITY💥

This course supports you in:

1️⃣ Developing a comprehensive understanding of the principles of barbell resistance training, exercise selection, and progressive overload so you can apply and adapt it for the novice through the advanced level lifter

2️⃣ Identifying what key performance indicators necessary to track, assess and manage to allow you to seamlessly adjust and adapt exercise prescription based on the individual for maximal and optimal outcomes with the least amount of injury risk possible

3️⃣ Understanding the pros and cons of various popular programming methods and combining them to design an optimal framework for programming development

4️⃣ Supporting your clients through all phases and seasons of training, including powerlifting competitions

5️⃣ Identifying and understanding why and how the most common types of training injuries happen, how they heal, and how to support the continuation of training through the rehabilitation and reintegration phases

Module 1: Novice Programming

Athletes, coaches, and clinicians need to explore, experience, and understand novice programming to apply intermediate or advanced programming successfully.

Here's why: Everyone is a novice. If they aren't a novice now, they will be if they've injured themselves, taken time off, or just started with you as their new coach.

Novice programming is the most relevant strength training category for the general and athletic populations and provides the fundamental principles necessary for intermediate, advanced, and specialized programming.

In Module 1, I'll show you how to:

✓Simplify the starting point with all your clients to decrease the barriers to getting them under a barbell and committed to strength training
✓Find the exercises that are most appropriate for their strength, range of motion, and desire to train
✓Build their technical skills to improve their muscle recruitment, optimize strength development and reduce their injury risk
✓Help them learn foundational communication skills so you can dynamically respond to their fatigue, reduce their injury risk, and keep them engaged in training
✓Dynamically assess and adjust their training to continually progress them without grinding them into the ground
✓Create a coach-client relationship that lasts years instead of needing to find new clients to keep your roster full continually
✓Exactly how to phasically transition your lifters seamlessly into intermediate programming when the time is right

All while using a simple, repeatable framework instead of starting from scratch with everyone.

Module 1 Lectures Include:

  • Lecture 1: The Beginning - How & Why
  • Lecture 2: Progressing The Novice Trainee Based On Performance & Training Response
  • Lecture 3: Transitioning From Novice To Intermediate

Module 2: Intermediate Programming

The problem you'll face after Module 1 is client retention! And this isn't a bad thing!

By helping your clients continually achieve their goals, realize their potential, stay injury-free, and enjoy working with you, you'll be stuck with them. I'm sorry…

It's far easier and more cost-effective for clients to continually renew services with you than to constantly search for new ones.

Utilizing the PRS™️ Method, your clients will progress from novice to intermediate-type programming within 16 to 52 weeks, at their own pace, and unique way with your programming mastery.

To continue to help your clients reach their goals and remain injury-free, you need a system that has your clients saying, "you always make just the right change at just the right time," like my first private client ever, Laurie Martone, who is still with me ten years later!

In Module 2, I'll show you:

✓Precisely what I love and don't love about popular programs and styles such as Texas Method, HLM, 5-3-1, DUP, and Conjugate (and why)
✓How to apply auto-regulation and percent-based training most appropriately to your clients, so it supports steady progress, injury risk reduction, and goal attainment without burning them out
✓How to truly distinguish between novice, intermediate, and advanced training recovery and adaptability, so you apply the correct principles in their programs
✓The ins and outs of the PRS™️ Method Intermediate Program (The VLI), and four variations of it so you have a framework to systematically apply to your clients based on the pieces of their puzzle
✓The PRS™️ Method assessment and decision-making process including how to implement changes so your clients maximize the outcomes of the initial phase of intermediate training

Module 2 Lectures:

  • Lecture 4: Assessment Of Popular Intermediate Programs
  • Lecture 5: PRS™️ Intermediate Program
  • Lecture 6: Intermediate Progressions - Assessing, Monitoring & Programming Decisions

Module 3: Custom Programming Progressions

If you’re creating and progressing programs appropriately for each individual client you have, it’s almost inevitable that they’ll make amazing progress, buy into and commit to training more than ever before, and some amazing things will happen:
→ They won’t be a novice anymore
→ They will keep renewing coaching with you
→ They will eventually want to “test” their strength or enter into a competition

It’s really inevitable. Not because you pushed them to do these things, but because you guided them on a positive realization journey and they want to “keep going.”

Because athletes grow and change, their adaptability and needs as an athlete also change.

This means that the same “type” of program you used with them 6 months or a year ago, may not be what they need now.

In Module 3, I'll show you:

✓ How to delineate between all levels of advancement include novice, early intermediate, general intermediate, advanced intermediate, and advanced trainees
✓ How Stress/Recovery/Adaptation presents itself at each level
✓ What periodization is and how it applies for general and competitive trainees in the PRS Method
✓ Why we need the Main Lifts in the program and should never take them out
✓ What training variables are and how to manipulate them based on the training phase goals and level of the trainee
✓ How to prepare and peek any trainee for competition and support them on competition day

Module 3 Lectures:

  • Lecture 7: Understanding & Applying Periodization
  • Lecture 8: Exercise Prescription
  • Lecture 9: Preparing For Competition

Module 4: Advanced Applications

The most important thing about strength training programming is ensuring optimal goal attainment without getting injured or quitting.

It’s essential that we have a way of monitoring the program and making tailored adjustments for this to happen.

But it’s also essential that we have a way for managing injuries if and when they arise, as we cannot prevent injuries, we can only reduce the risk for them.

In Module 4, I'll show you:

✓ The PRS Athlete Monitoring System for optimal outcomes and injury risk reduction
✓ Understand the necessity of fatigue in strength development but also a system to manage it
✓ Various types of injuries and how to manage them in training both acutely and chronically
✓ A series of case studies demonstrating the PRS Method in it’s application with novice, intermediate, advanced, and injured barbell athletes

Module 4 Lectures:

  • Lecture 10: The PRS™️ Athlete Monitoring System For Optimal Outcomes & Injury Risk Reduction
  • Lecture 11: Managing Injuries In Barbell Training
  • Lecture 12: Final Case Study Presentations

When you enroll in the mentorship program during this special, limited time, you'll get:
(A $4,098 Value)

Burning Questions your fellow athletes, coaches, & rehab clinicians asked before enrolling:

+ Will I lose access when the 16 weeks is over?

When you sign up and which version you enroll in determines how long you will have access. Mentorship students get lifetime access. Anyone who enrolls in the self-study program will get 1-year access from the delivery of the first lecture. Those who don't get lifetime access with their course purchase can regain access to the course (and updated versions and material) by signing up for another Blackboard course OR joining our Clinical Coach Membership program.

+ Is there an archive of the lectures?

All lectures are recorded and maintained on the site. This means you will have access to lectures from the cohorts before you as well as their Q&As. If you have lifetime access, you'll also have access to future updated recordings of lectures and Q&As and any new reading materials, videos, and research we add to the course.

+ When are the live Q&As?

The live sessions generally fall on Fridays or Saturdays. However, this is not definitive will be and determined by the composition of the students in the course.

+ What is the weekly time commitment for the course?

We polled our prior cohorts of over 30 students and found that the time commitment varies. The Lectures range from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours; however, many people speed up the video to shorten the listening time if you are watching the recordings. The readings we provide are great resources, but it is unnecessary to read all of them before each lecture or even during the course. They are resources there to enhance your learning experience. We divide them into "highly recommended" and "suggested" so you know where to spend your time if you choose to do all the readings. Based on our poll, the time spent each week on the course, if you track in real-time with us, ranges from 2 hours to 5 hours, depending on your learning style and participation.

+ I’m not coaching anyone yet. Is the course okay if I don’t have any clients?

YES! What better way to start your career than with the upfront knowledge to help you maximize your clients' goals, reduce their injury risk, and keep them in the game long term? Not only will this course give you the TOOLS you need to be successful off the bat, but it will also lead to RAVING fans because your clients will be so happy with their results. In addition, your business will boom from referrals! The best marketing source!

+ What if I can’t complete the course with the 16-week tract?

Totally okay! For the three months after the last live lecture, I dedicate one day a month to grading exams for those who did not complete them on time. But, if you submit exams after three months, I will grade them in the next round of courses when I grade exams. Also, depending on when you sign up, you have lifetime access or 12 months access, so you have time to finish the course!

+ Why are there exams?

I designed exams into the course for two reasons:
1) I've taken multiple online courses without exams, and I never felt like I got everything out of the course because nothing supported critical thinking and self-assessment
2) All our courses culminate in a certification for coaches or credential for clinicians, so the exams serve to assess your abilities based on the PRS™️ Methodology as the basis of the PRS Clinical Coach Credential and Coach Certification.

We polled our past students and only received rave reviews about the exams. They enhance the learning process and allow you to see where you're struggling to get help in the Q&As, Office Hours, and 1-on-1 coaching calls.

+ What is the difference between the PRS Coaching Certificate (PRSC) & Clinical Coach Credential (PRSCC)?

The difference is the level of education the coach has received before taking our courses. The PRSCC is for individuals with a clinical doctorate in physical therapy, chiropractic, medicine, osteopathic medicine, or occupational therapy. Registered Dietitians and Physical Therapy Assistants are also eligible for the PRSCC. The PRSC is for individuals without a clinical doctorate, but interested in integrating the athlete monitor system and injury risk reduction approaches on the PRS™️ Method into their coaching practice. The credential and certification indicate that the holder has demonstrated competence in all PRS courses required to hold the title.

+ What is the purpose of the 1-on-1 Coaching Call?

The 1-on-1 coaching call is designed to get the help, guidance, or mentorship you need with the course work, your clients, or the next step in your career directly with Dr. Rori. This is your time to connect and get that 1-on-1 help, inspiration, motivation, and support from her.

+ What if I don’t like the course or don’t find it valuable?

We have a 30-day guarantee if you are unsatisfied with the educational journey of the course. You must show us you've completed all the coursework to be eligible. Please review our Terms And Conditions for explicit details about our 30-day guarantee.

+ Is there a community aspect?

YES! Not only do we have a Blackboard Facebook group that you will have lifetime access to, but we also have an online forum for course discussions. In addition, during the time your live course is running, you will also have free access to the Clinical Coach Membership.

+ What is the Clinical Coach Membership?

This is a monthly membership program for coaches and clinicians interested in a community of like-minded individuals and continuing education regularly. Within the membership, we host a 1.5-hour Live Lecture + Q&A (Clinical Round Table) of varying topics and guest speakers throughout the year. All the lectures are recorded and archived on the course.

+ Will you be teaching us how to coach the lifts in Programming Fundamentals?

Barbell Coaching & Movement Optimization is the course in which we break down the physical and psychological art of coaching lifters through learning the lifts, improving on, and optimizing technique. Both Programming Fundamentals and Barbell Coaching & Movement Optimization are part of the requirements for the PRSC and PRSCC.
