Low back pain in powerlifting and barbell training is a common complaint injured lifters report. However, low back pain in the bench press does not have to stop you from continuing to train through the athlete recovery process.

So this is an area in powerlifting where we or barbell strength training or just any type of barbell training where we see people might develop back pain, not necessarily that you will develop back pain, but this is a common thing that people get and there's many ways to address it. And that's what we're going to talk about in this ten minute tip episode. So let me get my timer started. Here we go, Alyssa, take it away.

So usually when we see back pain and the bench press, it's related to having an excessive arch relative to what the spine or that person's spine can handle. Right. So arching isn't bad. Arching isn't dangerous. It's not unhealthy for your spine, but it's really a matter of pushing the limits of your joint mobility in your spine or your body.
